Using ‘Fresh Start’ vs. just deleting your account — Which is used when

Hinge Fresh Start vs. Deleting Your Account — Which do you need?

Dating apps aren’t magic, no matter how much they try to imply it. You WILL face difficulties finding the perfect match because that’s how the game is!

But instead of scrapping your Hinge profile entirely, what if there was a way to reset your feed…a fresh start if you will?

Not many know this, but Hinge has a Fresh Start feature that gives users another second chance to find love.

Just what is Hinge’s ‘Fresh Start’ feature?

Just what is Hinge’s ‘Fresh Start’ feature

I was surprised that not many people know of this feature, so let me break it down for you.

Think of cooking something but accidentally putting in the wrong ingredient, so now you have to start all over— the Fresh Start option resets your feed.

This means that, after an unlucky streak of bad matches, you finally get a fresh batch of cookies!

You’re given another chance to spark up connections with different Hinge users without losing your current ones.

The advantages of ‘Fresh Start’…

We’re living in a fast-paced life. The current condition of social media platforms has made it so our attention spans are that of a goldfish’s.

Imagine you accidentally skipped on the love of your life just because you didn’t like their bio: with Fresh Start, you’re given the option to re-check what you might have missed out on:

  • New users;
  • Users who have skipped you;
  • Users you have skipped;
  • Users whom you’ve been waiting on for millennia.

Yes, the Hinge fresh start feature resets your feed and likes, but only by recommending profiles that Hinge deems compatible with you.

Plus, it’s a last resort before going through the hassle of deleting your account

How to activate it?

How to activate it

For something seemingly this complicated, activating the Fresh Start option is pretty easy.

You can find the feature on your Settings. You need to start the process of deleting your Hinge account but stop when you’re presented with the Fresh Start option.

*Please be careful or you might ACTUALLY delete your account!

Hinge will give you a bit more information regarding this feature, by the way, so don’t worry about it.

Using ‘Fresh Start’ vs. just deleting your account — Which is used when

Many people are confused as to why shouldn’t they just delete their Hinge account if things aren’t going so well.

Good question indeed, but let me phrase it this way: If your house is dirty, do you buy a new one or just clean it?

Deleting your account means losing a lot of the meaningful matches you’ve met thus far and even your subscription if you’re paying for Hinge.

– Hit that ‘Fresh Start’ if…

– You’re sick and tired of not clicking with anyone.

The Fresh Start function is a great way to find matches you’re going to click with instantly…by Hinge’s standards.

The conversations will flow more naturally, and who knows? You might even go on a date or two!

– You keep seeing only low-quality matches on your feed.

If you keep seeing inadequate matches thus far, using this option will enable you to have a second look at people you’re compatible with on paper.

Your new feed will be specifically tailored for you, meaning you should have an easier time finding someone whose personality and appearance you like.

– You went all Bob The Builder on your profile.

I highly suggest you change things up on your profile before using Fresh Start. Start with your images and prompts.

Otherwise, using it would be useless as the same people will skip you AGAIN. Basically, you’re hurting your chances of finding somebody for real.

– You’re just coming back to Hinge.

Were you on hiatus? A Fresh Start ought to do you well because it would re-introduce you to the people who had a glow-up.

Delete your Hinge account if…

– You’re shadowbanned.

If your Hinge account is shadowbanned, meaning Hinge is deliberately hiding it from other users, you must replace it with a new one.

This is the best course of action considering keeping a shadowbanned account is simply a waste of time in terms of finding matches.

With that being said, delete your account. Make a new one, but use information different from your previous one.

To avoid being shadowbanned again, sign up for Hinge using a phone number from our DatingZest service—our numbers are ACTUALLY proven to fix this issue.

In the end, use your DatingZest phone number and confirmation code to access your new account!

– If you tried everything. EVERYTHING…

If you tried changing the look of your profile and/or using Fresh Start but still can’t seem to find people you like, it’s time to crumple your account and throw it in the trash.

Why waste your time on something that won’t produce any (satisfactory) results?

3 instances when you should avoid using the ‘Fresh Start’ option:

Fresh Start is not the answer to everything. Matter of fact, you’re better off NOT using the Fresh Start feature in these cases:

1. If you’re usually content with your matches but have been having a few bad swipe days, lay off the Fresh Start option.

Not every day can be your day, and sometimes you might come across people who aren’t your type.

Using Fresh Start in this case would be the equivalent of whipping out the vacuum cleaner just for a strand of hair. An overkill.

2. On the other hand, if you’re trying to avoid certain people *cough cough* your ex, there’s a better way to do it by blocking your contacts.

  • Go to your profile’s Settings;
  • Scroll down to Block List;
  • Grant Hinge access to your contacts;
  • Select the phone numbers you want to block.

3. It’s better to avoid using Fresh Start for newer accounts, as there’s practically nothing to reset.

Is the ‘Fresh Start’ feature successful?

I mean, on paper, yes. If your issue is incompatible matches then your feed is overdue for a good resetting.

This feature isn’t an all-powerful deity, though. Using it does not ensure you’ll find the love of your life.

It’s useful if you’ve hit rock bottom and have decided to go all fixer-upper on your profile so that users who have previously skipped you are finally in awe when they see you again.

Not to mention this feature has an air of mystery to it as not many people know a lot about it. Aside from what I told you, it’s also said that you can use this feature once every 30 days!

But hey, why not try it out once?
